" With their first album for Daqui two years ago, Romano Drom demonstrated once and for all that they are one of the most stimulating Hungarian gypsy groups. This album plays enthusiastically on every possible charm of this type of music, with impressive summits of rhythmic virtuosity, ear-rending melodies and a whole host of joyous, clear innovations. ...it all goes with such good technique in vocal percussions and the famous Hungarian jug, and has energy and pride to spare."
- World

Since 1999, Romano Drom has traveled around the world with its original and unique way of interpreting Olah Gypsy music. 30 years ago the Olah Gypsy music was still based on voices and rhythms and played in the community only. Romano Drom, which means "gypsy road" in the Romani language, was founded in Budapest by Antal Kovács and his late father by dissidents of the group Ando Drom. Their original sound uses the genuine music of Kovács' people to open it to a larger public, as well as also composing new songs, mostly based on traditional melodies and lived experiences. The songs keep the energy of the music, but adding a influences of the surrounding world, creating a sound characterized for its masculine energy and sincerity and powerful instrumentation of guitars, percussions, accordion, violin, and double bass grooving together. Romano Drom plays as well in theatres as in festivals, interpreting a personal repertoire and compositions, avoiding clichés and touching the public by its sincerity.
