Men in the Nude

Hungarian movie makes U.S. debut at New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Film Festival

“Men in the Nude” (Férfiakt), a 2006 feature written and directed by Károly Esztergályos, is being presented on Friday, June 8, at NewFest, the 19th New York Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgender Film Festival.

The story, of a middle-aged married writer’s passionate entanglement with a bisexual male prostitute, plumbs the implications of what Montaigne defined as “an insatiate thirst of enjoying a greedily desired object.” According to Esztergályos’s own formula, love is the sole sentiment that is fully aware, yet never swayed, by its own futility.
