October 7, 1:30 pm: This season’s first performance of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at the Metropolitan Opera, with Erika Miklósa as Queen of the Night. She will sing the role in 16 performances between October 7, 2006 and March 8, 2007.

October 10, 2 pm: The Parker String Quartet performs works by Brahms, Beethoven, Bartók and Schumann. Merkin Concert Hall at Kaufman Center.


October 15, 2 pm: 50th Anniversary Memorial Concert for the 1956 Hungarian Revolution at Carnegie Hall, Isaac Stern Auditorium, with the Takács Quartet, Viktoria Vizin, András Molnár, Peter Frankl, the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale, Shinik Hahm, conductor. On the program, works by Bartók, Liszt, Kodály, Erkel, Berlioz, and Ádám Balázs.


October 18, 8 pm: András Schiff and the Cappella Andrea Barca perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat major, K.482, Symphony No 36 in C major (“Linz”), and Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K.488. Lincoln Center, Alice Tully Hall.
