Márta Mészáros was the first Hungarian director to present
an entry at the prestigious Berlinale festival, in 1975. That year, her film
“Adoption” walked away with four prizes, including the festival’s top honor,
the Golden Bear. She was the first woman director to receive the coveted award.
This year, on February 13, Mészáros will receive the Berlin film festival’s
lifetime achievement award, the Camera Prize, at a ceremony to be held at the
Filmpalast, where “Adoption” will be screened again that evening.
